I don't believe having a lot of images and video makes a page look good. It's the opposite. It can take too long for people to load. It can causea lot of frustration.

Good navigation is a must. Have you ever been to a website and couldn't remember how to get back to where you were? The navigation menu should be clear and on every page.

Design is very important. If it's a simple website like this current site, then a simple layout is fine. Pretty colors and design are what keeps people coming back to your site. If there's too much going on your users can get headaches.

I've seen a lot of websites with white backgrounds and yellow fonts. It makes it hard to read. The font must stand out from whatever is going on in the background.

Too many words can be a bad thing as well. No one wants to read a life story. Separate your paragraphs. Be short, simple, and to the point.
